  • I Write Emotional Algebra

Anais Nin once said, “I write emotional algebra” and when I read it, I was struck.  Yes, I too write emotional algebra.  In whatever I write, there are unknown factors parsed throughout my expressions.  Sometimes these factors are dependent, and sometimes they are independent variables – but they are crowded inside those parenthetical signs.  Sometimes these factors will contain imaginary factors – those pesky units which must be squared before they enter the realm of the real world.  My emotional algebra will never contain tautologies but will always appear complex.  Read at your own peril.  Read deep or drink not.  Watch for signs and pay special attention to the contrapositives.  And always verify in order to prove your understanding.  QED

  • so i love this. your post. the painting at the top. and i’m pretty that’s michael buble tickling my ears. (and then i scrolled down and it becomes completely obvious that it is)

  • @promisesunshine - Thanks.  I’m glad you enjoyed this.  Your appreciation gave me more than a promise of sunshine – it gave me an actual experience of sunshine.  (smile)

  • @godfatherofgreenbay - Thanks.  I’m glad you enjoyed it.

  • Emotional Algebra… interesting.  I never looked at it from the viewpoint before.

  • I still think Math is eeeevil!  =P

I really like the new music you put on your site.  I was having a horrible day (so bad I wanted to bash someone’s head in with a baseball bat because he wanted to fire someone close to me), but after watching my seven month old niece play the piano and hear this song, I’ve soften a bit.  I’m hoping that this person close to me get a new job tomorrow that pays enough to take care of me so I can quit working and just concentrate on getting better. =)  Wow.  The music is so relaxing……….

  • I love the equation as expressed. Nicely done.

  • @hesacontradiction - I’m glad you like the music and that it was able to soothe you when you needed it.  It makes one’s skin crawl to see injustices being performed – especially to those close to you.  i hope your friend comes out okay.

  • @RestlessButterfly - Poetry is not just taking a unique thought and describing it in a common way, but taking a common concept and expressing it uniquely.  I’m glad you liked the different view.

  • In your case, deep reading is always worth the effort.

  • you always make things so much more interesting, yes even math, algebra included.

  • David, I think the point you make here is excellent. I may be 3 squared when I am with one person and perhaps 3.14 when another. And even those parameters will change according to where I am, under what conditions and when. I know that there are some people who make me better and some, well, that don’t. Great job with this.
